About Us
Otsuka Group started in 1921. Busaburo Otsuka established a chemical compound factory in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture, now Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory Inc. In 1946, this small-scale manufacturer of chemical raw materials began producing and selling intravenous solutions.
In 1950, the organic chemicals division split from Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory to form Otsuka Chemical and Medical Products, Inc., now called Otsuka Chemical.
This was followed by the establishment of Taiho Pharmaceutical in 1963 and Otsuka Pharmaceutical in 1964. These new entities were steps in the evolution of a manufacturer specializing in R&D.

Thai Otsuka History
Before 1965, Thailand had, product and use of Basic Intravenous Solutions in glass bottles and imported from Europe. Otsuka (Pharmaceutical company in Japan) foresaw the opportunity that the Thai people could use more modern and safer Basic Intravenous Solutions and, therefore, collaborated with Chor. Charoen Bhaesaj managed by Khun Charoen Suntayodom, in importing Basic Intravenous Solutions in plastic bottles with the closed system and subsequently it was well popular among the Thai people and could not meet the market demands. Khun Charoen took the milestone decision to produce these products locally instead of importing from Japan. So he negotiated with the executives of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Japan at that time to invest and establish a company and Basic Intravenous Solution factory in Thailand under the efficient technology of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Japan.
Thai Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was officially established on December 7, 1973, making it the first joint venture outside Japan of Otsuka Group.
For over 40 years until today, Thai Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, has still adhered to the first concept when it was established for the better health of Thai people. We promise to innovate, develop and improve in order to obtain the quality products and enhance the better quality of life for Thai people forever.
1973
Thai Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was established with a registered capital of 10 million Baht.
1977
Construction of Basic Intravenous Solutions factory was completed and it was ready to produce Basic Intravenous Solution in plastic bottles with closed system.
1980
Pure amino acid solution which is Parenteral Nutritions was initially produced for the first time in Thailand.
1986
Drugs imported from Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Japan which had been invented, researched and developed to meet the needs of patient were initially sold.
1987
Production of Medical Foods was established and initially run for the first time in Thailand.
2002
Products of Thai Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., both Basic Intravenous Solutions and Medical Foods, have been accepted in many countries.
2011
The New Product Development Department was set up to develop new formulae of Medical Foods to meet Thai patients and consumers’ needs. Moreover, a new plant was built to manufacture Basic Intravenous Products with PIC/S GMP standard for export, also exported to Japan where the quality of imported products is very strict.

By the cultivation based on Otsuka’s DNA of “Ryukan-godo” (Discovery through hard work and practice), “Jissho” (=Self-actualization) and “Sozosei” (=Creativity), what we see, sense, think and act is out of the box; in other words, we’re passionate to research, manufacture then deliver the best outcome with innovation and uniqueness.
In Thailand, medical food is one of our significant efforts for the commitment. With a good collaboration of highly recognized Thai doctors, a series of nutrition products for specific diseases have been successfully released into the Thai market over recent decades. We are proud that some of them are currently officially registered in the Thai Government’s Innovation List as well.

Thai Otsuka Co., Ltd. was officially established on December 7, 1973 and was the first Overseas Japanese joint venture outside of Japan, for the Otsuka Group. An intravenous solution manufacturing plant was built in Thailand under the effective technology of Otsuka, Japan.
For over 40 years, Thai Otsuka Co., Ltd. is still operating under the philosophy of Otsuka, “We Otsuka people invented new products for better health of humanity”. With dedication and perseverance of our staff, Thai Otsuka Co., Ltd. has been recognized as a leader in the manufacturing and distribution of intravenous solution in the pharmaceutical and medical supplies business in Thailand. We have also collaborated with Thai medical professionals and the Food Innopolis to research and develop medical foods for better health of the Thai people and also for export to many countries in Asia. We are also a distributor of innovative drug products developed and innovated by the Otsuka Group in Japan which focuses on increasing the standard of patient treatment as well as having a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Corporate Symbol
Otsuka Group uses the first letter “O”, to convey the philosophy of Otsuka. The big O, which has a blue background as a representation of the sky, conveys “Openness,” “Freedom,” “Intelligence,” and “Future,” which are the personalities that Otsuka Group uses to represent the fusion forces of Otsuka.
The balanced arrangement of these two aspects communicates the Otsuka name in a clear and harmonious way. This symbolizes the zealous commitment of the company to bring joy to the masses through good health.
